AWESOME FRANK DISHTA ATTRIBUTED SQUASH BLOSSOM NECKLACE
I bought this piece from a man whose grandfather was a Zuni/Navajo silversmith beginning in the 1930s. He told me this was made in the 1940s by a Zuni artist and after reviewing many online sites and books, I would attribute this piece to Frank Dishta.Beautiful Lone Mountain turquoise and silver. This type of silversmithing was begun by Frank Dishta and has been carried on by his son and grandson. Dishta is currently used in describing this type of jewelry where the stones are flattened against the silver.
From clasp to naja is 12” in length. Very dramatic. (wp)
