1920s NAVAJO PICTORIAL RUG – STEERS
A wonderful Navajo pictorial weaving which I believe was a “custom” order for a rancher in the Arizona area. As you can see, the middle of the rug has the initials “GWE” woven in and then two steer faces are depicted on both sides of the initials. There are “whirling logs” on each of the four corners as well as “fretwork” designs and “mountains”. One end of the rug was quite damaged so I had it professionally cleaned and repaired to save the integrity of the old rug. The size is: 38″ x 67″. It is in nice antique condition. I believe this rug was woven in the late 1900 to 1920 time frame. A super addition to a collector’s inventory.
